VisitScotland has partnered with leading carbon measurement platform TRACE by Isla to offer tourism and event businesses a free-to-use, online carbon calculator tool.

Using this tool will help your business gain a clearer picture of your carbon impact and pinpoint practical steps that can lower costs and save time.

The carbon calculator tool is suitable for businesses who have already begun tracking their carbon emissions – if you’re just starting out on your climate action journey, we recommend that you register for our free Climate Action Accelerator Programme first.

What does the carbon calculator do?

Too often sustainability can feel complex or disconnected from day-to-day decisions. The aim is to make it easier for organisations to understand their impact and focus on the actions that matter most, turning data into meaningful change.

Based on the information you provide, TRACE calculates your carbon footprint by looking at your business’s Scope 1,2 and 3 emissions:

energy used in your building (heating, electricity)
travel (staff, visitors, deliveries)
goods and services you buy (suppliers, food, materials)
